Assignment: p. 79 #1, 2, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19
Today we started class by doing a Desmos Activity: Parabola Marbleslides. This activity was to remind students of what effect the constants (a, h, and k) did in the quadratic function y=a(x-h)^2+k. We then went over 2.4 Transformations of Functions and generalized our findings from the activity.
Assignment: p. 79 #1, 2, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19 Today we went over 2.3 Composition of Functions. This is a new operation that allows us to combine functions.
Assignment: p. 66 #1 acg, 2 aei, 3 aceg, 4 ac, 5 aceg, 6 a, 7 acegikm, 8, 8, 10 a, 11 Students were also given a Function Operations Worksheet to complete and hand in. Finally, students were given a Some Functions and Their Graphs Worksheet. This is not to be handed in but we will go over the answers together as a class on Monday. Today we went over the Ch. 1 Sequences and Series Test outline. Students then worked on 1.6 Chapter Review.
Assignment: p. 40 #1-53 In the second half of class we discussed 2.2 Arithmetic Operations on Functions. Students were also told to read over 2.1 Functions and Relations, p. 49-52. This is review material from grade 10. Assignment: p. 53 #1-3 p. 57 #(1, 2) aceg, 5 Today we went over 1.5 Infinite Geometric Series. We looked at what conditions must be true for a geometric series to converge. We also developed a formula and used it to solve problems involving infinite geometric series.
Assignment: p. 35 #1 abdf, 2 a-f, 3 abce, 4 abd, 5 ab, 6 a, 9, 12, 15, 16, 19 In the second half of class, students were given an Applications of Sequences and Series Assignment to complete and hand in. Today we covered 1.3 Geometric Sequences and 1.4 Geometric Series. We saw how formulas for each of these were developed. We then used these formulas to answer questions involving geometric sequences and series.
Assignment: p. 22 #1 ace, 2 abcd, 3 a, 4 acegi, 5, 7, 9, 13, 15 p. 28 #1 aceg, 2 a, 3 abc, 4 a, 7, 11, 16, 19 Students were also given a Geometric Sequences and Series Worksheet to complete and hand in. Today we finished off 1.1 Arithmetic Sequences by developing a formula for an arithmetic sequence.
Assignment: p. 10 #(7-9) ace, 10 a, 11 a, 12, 15 In the second half of class we went over 1.2 Arithmetic Series. We developed two formulas and used them to solve problems involving arithmetic series. Assignment: p. 16 #1 aceg, 2 acegi, 3 acd, 4 a, 9, 11, 12 Welcome to Pre-Calculus 12!
Today we went over the course outline, class schedule, and signed out the workbooks from the library. We also went over 1.1 Arithmetic Sequences. We started this section by looking at general sequences and series. Assignment: p. 9 #1, (2-4) a, 5 cf, 6 a |
