Assignment: p. 79 #1, 2, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19
Today we finished our discussion of 2.4 Transformations by looking at absolute value transformations and reciprocal transformations.
Assignment: p. 79 #1, 2, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19 We started today's class by going over the answers to the assignment Some Functions and Their Graphs. We then started 2.4 Transformations. We reviewed the transformations we did last year with parabolas and applied them to many different functions.
Assignment: p. 79 #1, 2, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19 Today we started class with a Function Operations Assignment. When students were done, they worked on a Some Functions and Their Graphs Worksheet. We will go over the answers to this worksheet tomorrow.
Today we went over the new operation 2.3 The Composite Function. We looked at determining restrictions, how to find the equation of the composite, and how to use a graph to find the composite.
Assignment: p. 66 #1acg, 2aei, 3aceg, 4ac, 5aceg, 6a, 7acegikm, 8, 9, 10a, 11 Today we went over 2.2 Arithmetic Operations on Functions. We looked at combining functions algebraically and graphically. We also looked at how to determine the domain of the combination of a function.
Assignment: p. 57 #1aceg, 2aceg, 5 Today students had time to ask questions and do practice in preparation for their Ch. 1 Sequences and Series Test which they are writing tomorrow.
Today we discussed the answers to the Applications of Sequences and Series Assignment, and went over the outline to the Ch. 1 Sequences and Series Test, which the students will write on Wednesday.
Students were also given a Sequences and Series Review Assignment to practice their skills. This assignment is not being collected for marks. Finally, students were assigned 1.6 Chapter Review for further practice. Assignment: p. 40 #1-53 Today students worked on a Geometric Sequences and Series Assignment and an Applications of Sequences and Series Assignment.
Today we went over 1.5 Infinite Geometric Series. We looked at when a finite sum was expected and developed a formula for calculating that sum.
