Today we went over 2.2 Multiplying Polynomials. We talked about using the distributive property and learned the mnemonic FOIL to help us remember all the steps.
Assignment: p. 76 #(1-3) every other letter, 4ab, 6a, 7a Today we used the properties of adding and subtracting like terms to add and subtract polynomials. Students then wrote a Classifying Polynomials Quiz.
Today we went over 2.1 Classifying Polynomials. This lesson focused on the vocabulary we will need to communicate effectively in this unit.
Assignment: p. 66 #1, 2abcd, 3, 4a-f, 5a-f, 6abcd, 7acg, 8abde, 9a Today students worked on 1.7 Chapter Review in preparation for their Ch. 1 Real Numbers Test.
Assignment: p. 58 #1-5, 8, 9a-h, 10a-f, 1a-d Today students wrote an Exponential Notation Quiz in the first half of class. In the second half of class we went over 1.6 Simplifying Radicals. We looked at the difference between evaluating simplifying.
Assignment: p. 52 #1acg, 2ac, 3acegi, 4aceg, 5a, 6a, 7a, 8ac, 9ac, 10ac11, 14 Since students did not have much time to do practice work yesterday, today's class started with time to work on 1.5 Exponential Notation. Once students had time to practice and ask questions, we did an Exponential Notation Assignment. No additional textbook questions were assigned.
Today we went over 1.5 Exponent Laws. We reviewed the properties of powers from previous grades and introduced new rules pertaining to negative exponents and fractional exponents.
Assignment: p. 42 #1ace, 2ace, 3ace, 4ace, 5a-j, 6ace, 7a-l, 8aceg, 11 Today we went over 1.4 Roots of Non-Perfect Squares where we justified an approximation to a non-perfect root without relying on a calculator.
