Today in class students reviewed 6.1 Solving Linear Systems by Graphing by doing several questions together as a class. Next we went over 6.2 Solving Linear Systems by Addition. This algebraic technique allows systems to be solved when the answer is not a pair of integers. Students were given a Solving Systems Assignment to be completed over the weekend.
Today in class students wrote their Ch. 4/5 Linear Relations Test.
In the second half of class we went over 6.1 Solving Systems of Equations by Graphing. We looked at how to tell how many solutions there will be and how to find those solutions by looking at the graph of the lines. Today in class we covered 5.2 Special Cases of Linear Relations. In this sections we looked at the equations of horizontal and vertical lines. In the second half of class we went over 5.3 Parallel and Perpendicular lines. In this section we looked at how to find the equation of a line that is either parallel to or perpendicular to a given line. Students were then given a Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Assignment.
Today in class we continued our study of Linear Relations. We learned how to convert equations from one form to another and how to graph a line from various forms. Students were given a Linear Relations Worksheet to complete.
Today in class we went over 5.1 Different Forms of a Linear Relation. Students were introduced to the Slope Y-Intercept Form and Standard Form of a line. We discussed writing the equation of a line, converting from one form of a line to another form of a line, and graphing lines in various forms. Students were given a Different Forms of a Line Worksheet and a textbook assignment.
Assignment: p. 194 #(2 - 4) eol Today in class students covered 4.3 Graphing Linear Relations. We started by graphing lines using a point and the slope. We then went on to graphing lines using either the x-intercept or the y-intercept and the slope. Students were then given a Graphing Lines Assignment which was handed in during class.
In the second half of class we went over 4.4 Parallel and Perpendicular Lines. Students were given a Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Assignment. Today in class we went over 4.1 Slope. Students learned that slope can be found by finding the rise versus the run from 1 point to another or by a formula. Students also learned how to distinguish whether a slope is positive, negative, zero, or undefined. Students were then given an in-class assignment that they handed in at the end of class.
In the second half of class we went over 4.2 Rate of Change. This involves finding the slope in a real world setting. The process of finding the slope is the same as in section 4.1. Students were given another assignment, this time on Rate of Change. Assignment: p. 163 #(1, 2) eol, 5, 8, 9, 11, 15 Today in class we went over a summary of Ch. 3 Relations material. We also discussed several questions from the Domain and Range Worksheet as well as the Function Notation Worksheet. We went over the Ch. 3 Relations Test Outline. The test is being written tomorrow Fri. Oct. 16. To prepare for the test students were given a Ch. 3 Relations Practice Test.
A reminder that Friday classes run from 11:00 - 12:30 with the Support Block from 12:30 - 1:00. Today in class students wrote their Ch. 2 Polynomials Test.
In the second half of class we went over 3.2 Functions. Students were given a Function Notation Worksheet as well as a textbook assignment. Assignment: p. 123 #1, 3 - 7 p. 220 #1, 2 ab, 4 ab, 11 |
