Assignment: p. 162 #3 a-e, 4, 6 acdfh In the second half of class, we went over 4.2 Vertex of a Parabola where we generated a formula for the vertex of a parabola using the constants a,b, and c from General Form. Assignment: p. 170 #1, 3 abcfi, 4 abd, 5 abcf, 8 Students were also given a Graphing Parabolas in General Form Worksheet to complete and hand in. Today in class we went over 3.5 Finding the Equation of a Parabola. We used 3 forms of the quadratic function - Standard Form, Intercept Form, and General Form - with various properties of the parabola to generate an equation.
Assignment: p. 153 #1 abcf, 2 aeg, 3 acd, 5, 6, 9 In the second half of class, students were given a Finding Equations of a Parabola Assignment to complete and hand in. Today in class we went over 3.4 Graphing y=a(x-h)^2+k. This section combined the knowledge from sections 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3.
Assignment: p. 145 #2, 3 abcd, 4 abceh, 5 a, 7 abc, 8 a, 9 ad, 10 In the second half of class, students were given a Graphing Parabolas in Standard Form Assignment to complete and hand in. Today in class we covered 3.2 Graphing y=ax^2+k and 3.3 Graphing y=a(x-h)^2. These look at transformations of the parabola.
Assignment: p. 136 #1, 2 acdef, 3, 4 p. 141 #1 ab, 3 abc, 4, 5, 7 We started today's class by going over 3.1 Properties of Quadratic Functions. We looked at the properties of quadratic functions and how to graph a basic parabola.
Assignment: p. 131 #1, 2 bc, 3 ab, 4 a, 5 a, 6 ab In the second half of class, students wrote their Ch. 2 Rational Expressions Test. Today in class we went over the Ch. 2 Rational Expressions Test outline. The test is being written tomorrow. Students then worked on either 2.8 Chapter Review or a Rational Expressions Summary Assignment.
Assignment: p. 123 #1 - 7 Today in class we went over 2.5 Solving Rational Equations. We looked at how we can use the LCD (lowest common denominator) to remove the fractions.
Assignment: p. 101 #1, 3 abf, 4 ae, 5 aeimqs, 6 abfgj In the second half of class, students were given a Solving Rational Equations Worksheet to complete and hand in. Today in class we finished our notes on 2.4 Mixed Operations by doing examples of "complex fractions".
Assignment: p. 94 #1 acegi, 2 acgi, 4 In the second half of class, students were given a Rational Expression Arithmetic Worksheet to complete and hand in. Today in class we went over 2.3 Adding and Subtracting Rational Expressions.
