Assignment: p. 86 #3abfi, 4acegikmo
Today we went over 2.3 Adding and Subtracting RE. We reviewed how to find equivalent fractions so that we can have common denominators to add or subtract fractions.
Assignment: p. 86 #3abfi, 4acegikmo Today we went over 2.2 Multiplying and Dividing RE. We reviewed the process for multiplying fractions (multiply numerators, multiply denominators) and dividing fractions (multiply by the reciprocal) and applied them to RE.
Assignment: p. 79 #2abdeikmos, 3abcghimqrs Students were also given a Simplifying Rational Expressions Quiz to complete at home and hand in tomorrow. Today we went over 2.1 Simplifying Rational Expressions (RE). We reviewed how to simplify a fraction by factoring the numerator and denominator and then cancelling common factors.
Assignment: p. 72 #2a, 3abcdeh, 4abce, 5acegikqsuw, 8 Today we went over the outline to the Ch. 1 Factoring and Radicals Test. Students need to be able to factor in all the methods we went over; find restrictions for square roots; simplify, add, subtract, and multiply radicals; rationalize a denominator; and solve a radical equation. The test is being written on Monday Sept. 26th.
Assignment: p. 63 #1-4, 7-12 Today students wrote a Solving Radical Equations Quiz. After they were done, they worked on a radicals review assignment.
Today we went over 1.7 Solving radical Equations. Students learned to remove the radical by isolating it and then squaring the equation. Students also learned that it is necessary to check for extraneous roots when solving radical equations.
Assignment: p. 60 #1ab, 2abc, 3abdefg, 4, 6 Today students worked on an Adding and Subtracting Radicals Quiz and a Multiplying and Dividing Radicals Quiz. No additional homework was assigned.
Today we went over 1.6 Multiplying and Dividing Radicals. We learned how to multiply monomial and binomial radical expressions together. We also learned how to rationalize the denominator of a fraction with a radical denominator.
Assignment: p. 50 #2acg, 3ahi, 4acde, 5ab, 7, 9abcdefgh, 10 Students also wrote a Simplifying Radicals Quiz. Today we went over 1.5 Adding and Subtracting Radicals. We learned how to recognize like radicals and that we can only add and subtract like radicals with each other.
Assignment: p. 40 #2, 4a, 5acegikmo, 6ab, 7abe, 8ad There will be a Simplifying Radicals Quiz tomorrow. |
