Today students were given time to study for their Final Exam which they are writing tomorrow.
Today students worked on an Applications of Trigonometry Worksheet that should be handed in when done.
We also went over the Ch. 8 Trigonometry Test outline. The test will be written on Monday. Assignment: p. 341 #1-4, 6, 7, 9 Today we looked at how to solve a triangle. We talked about the 4 cases (ASA, SSA, SAS, SSS) and which formula - the law of sines or the law of cosines - was needed to start the question. We also looked at when the information given leads to 0, 1, or 2 solutions.
Assignment: p. 336 #2, 6, 7 a-f, 8 a-f Today we went over 8.5 The Law of Sines and 8.6 The Law of Cosines. We learned how to know which formula to choose when solving for a missing side or angle in a triangle. Students were given a Sine Law Worksheet and a Cosine Law Worksheet to practice using the formulas.
In the second half of class, students were given a Combined Law of Sines and Law of Cosines Worksheet to complete and hand in. Today we went over 8.3 Exact Values of Special Angles.
Assignment: p. 312 #1 a-d, 2 a-d, 3 every other letter, 4 abcfghj, 5 ace Students were also given a Special Angles Worksheet to complete and hand in. Today in class we went over 8.1 Angles in Standard Position and 8.2 Primary Trig Ratios in Standard Position. We learned a new way to draw an angle so that we can apply our definitions for sine, cosine, and tangent for angles bigger than 90 degrees or less than zero degrees.
Assignment: p. 291 #1 a-e, 2 a-e, 3 adgm, 6 a, 7 a, 8 aceg, 9 a-e, 10 a p. 300 #1 ae, 2 a-d, 3 ace, 4 a, 5 abceg, 6 ace Students were also given an Angles in Standard Position Worksheet to complete and hand in. |
