Today in class we covered 3.4 The Discriminant.
Assignment: p. 96 #(2 - 5) eol In the second half of class we covered 3.5 Applications of Quadratic Equations. Assignment: p. 102 #1, 3, 4, 6, 8 - 10, 12, 15, 16 Today we covered sections 3.2 The Square Root Principle and 3.3 The Quadratic Formula.
Assignment: p. 81 #(2, 6, 7) eol p. 88 #(1, 2) sample, 3 a - f, 4 aceg, 7ac Students were also given the Solving Quadratic Equations Assignment. Today in class we went over the Ch. 2 Quadratic Functions Test. The test is being written tomorrow Fri. Sept. 25. Students then worked on 2.5 Chapter Review questions.
Assignment: p. 69 #1 - 5, 8, 9 After the break we went over 3.1 Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring. We discussed how solving a quadratic equation is equivalent to finding the x-intercepts of the corresponding quadratic function. We then went over the Zero Product Principle and how it relates to solving a quadratic equation by factoring. Assignment: p. 73 #1, 3, 4, 6 aceg, 7 aceg, 8abcd, 9 ace Today we finished our notes on 2.4 Applications of Quadratic Functions. Students were then given time to complete any of their unfinished assignments which includes Equations of Parabolas, Graphing Parabolas in General Form, and Applications of Quadratic Functions.
Assignment: p. 66 #1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15 The Ch. 2 Quadratic Functions Test will be written this Friday September 25. Today in class we covered section 2.3 Vertex of a Parabola. By using the process of completing the square we were able to generate a formula for the vertex of a parabola using the constants from general form. Students were given A General to Standard Form Assignment.
Assignment: p. 57 #1, 3 aef, 4 ab, 5 abdf In the second half of class today we went over 2.4 Applications of Quadratic Functions. Students were given a Applications of Quadratic Functions Assignment. We will do more examples for this section tomorrow. Assignment: p. 66 #1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15 Today students wrote their Ch. 1 Factoring and Quadratic Functions Test.
After the break we went over 2.2 Changing General Form to Standard Form. We learned the process of Completing the Square. Assignment: p. 49 #(1 - 3) sample, 4 eol, 5 abcd, 6 acdh, 13 Today in class we covered 2.1 The Equation of a Parabola. Students looked at how we can use information from the parabola combined with one of the three forms - Standard, Intercept, and General - to find the equation of the parabola.
Assignment: p.43 #1 a - d, 2 a - d, 3 abgh Students were also given an Equation of the Parabola Assignment. A reminder that the Ch. 1 Factoring and Quadratic Functions Test is on Monday. Today in class we finished our notes on 1.4 Graphing Parabolas. Students then did a Graphing Parabolas Assignment.
Assignment: p. 34 #2, 6 We then went over the outline to the Ch. 1 Factoring and Quadratic Functions Test. This test will be written on Mon. Sept. 21. Students worked on 1.5 Chap. Review after this. Assignment: p. 37 #1, 3, 4 ab, 8 Today in class we went over 1.3 Properties of Quadratic Functions.
Assignment: p. 26 #1, 2, 5 Students then did a Factoring Assignment. Students who did not complete this in class should finish it and hand it in tomorrow. Next we started 1.4 Graphing Parabolas. We did not get through all the examples so we will continue this topic tomorrow. Assignment: p. 34 #2, 6 |
