Today we went over 2.5 Factoring Messy Trinomials.
Assignment: p. 98 #1ae, 2, 3, 5ac, 7, 10 Today students had the first half of class to practice factoring a greatest common factor and a simple trinomial. In the second half of class, students wrote a Polynomial Arithmetic Quiz.
Today students were given a Classifying Polynomials Quiz. Students then did a group assignment Polynomial Expressions Menu Task.
Today we went over 2.2 Multiplying Polynomials.
Assignment: p. 76 #(1-3) every other letter, 4ab, 6a, 7a Today we went over 2.1 Classifying Polynomials. We went over some vocabulary, evaluating a polynomial, and multiplying monomials.
Assignment: p. 66 #1, 2abcd, 3, 4a-f, 5a-f, 6abcd, 7acg, 8abde, 9a Today students worked on a Simplifying Radicals Quiz. When students were done they worked on a Ch. 1 Number Systems Practice Test.
Students started today's class with an Exponent Laws Quiz. We then went over 1.6 Simplifying Radicals.
Assignment: p. 52 #1acg, 2ac, 3acegi, 4aceg, 5a, 6a, 7a, 8ac, 9ac, 10ac, 11, 14 Today we finished our notes on 1.5 The Exponent Laws.
Assignment: p. 43 #4ace, 5a-j, 6ace, 7a-l, 8aceg, 11 Students were also given a Square Roots Quiz. Today we started with a Characteristics of Numbers Menu Task. We then reviewed Exponent Laws and discussed why a zero exponent gives an answer of 1. We then extended that discussion into evaluating negative exponents. Students were given an Exponents Worksheet to practice simplifying expressions with powers.
