Today we discussed why the 3 primary trig. ratios were developed. We used these ratios to solve for parts of a right angled triangle. We will continue with more examples tomorrow. No new assignment was given.
8.1 Primary Trigonometric Ratios
Today we discussed why the 3 primary trig. ratios were developed. We used these ratios to solve for parts of a right angled triangle. We will continue with more examples tomorrow. No new assignment was given. Ch. 7 System of Equations Test
Students wrote the system of equations test today. Tomorrow we start our last unit on Trigonometry. 7.5 Chapter Review
Students did practice questions on systems of equations in preparation for the Ch. 7 System of Equations Test tomorrow. Assignment: p. 313 #1-9 7.5 Chapter Review
Students completed the word problem assignment from yesterday. For students that completed the assignment, the review assignment for the chapter was given. Chapter 7 Systems of Equations Test is on Tuesday. Assignment: p. 313 #1-9 7.4 Applications of Systems
Today we did more examples of using a system of equations to find the solution to a word problem. Students worked on an in-class assignment. More time will be given tomorrow to complete this assignment. 7.3 Solving Systems by Substitution
Today we continued our study of systems of equations by learning another algebraic technique for solving the system. Students were again encouraged to always check their solution by substituting the answer into both original equations. Assignment: p. 304 #1abefn, 2a, 3a, 4a 7.2 Solving Systems by Elimination
Today we learned how to solve a system using the algebraic method of elimination. Students learned they could add or subtract 2 equations and eliminate 1 of the variables. Assignment: p. 299 #2acegln 7.1 Solving Systems by Graphing
Today we introduced the concept of solving a system of equations. We looked at the 3 possible scenarios for a 2 line system. Finally, we graphed a system to find the intersection of the lines, which is the solution to the system. We checked our solution by substituting the x and y coordinates into both equations to see if we got a true statement both times. Assignment: p. 291 #1-4, 6ad, 9, 14 Review
Today we looked at resources available to students for reviewing for the provincial exam. We looked at http://learnnowbc.ca/ and http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/exams/. Together we did a couple of online practice tests. No new work was assigned. |
