Assignment: p. 66 #1, 2 abcd, 3, 4 abcdef, 5 abcdef, 6 abcd, 7 acg, 8 abde, 9 a Today in class students wrote their Ch. 1 Real Numbers Test.
We will continue with 2.1 Classifying Polynomials on Tuesday. There is no homework for the weekend. Today in class we started 2.1 Classifying Polynomials. There was no homework assigned so that students can study for their Ch. 1 Real Numbers Test which they are writing tomorrow.
Today in class we went over the Ch. 1 Real Numbers Test Outline. The test will be written on Friday. Students then worked on completing their hand in assignments and working on 1.7 Chapter Review questions.
Assignment: p. 58 #1 - 5, 8, 9 a - h, 10 a- f, 11 a - d Today in class we went over 1.6 Simplifying Radicals. We learned the difference between evaluating a radical versus simplifying a radical.
Assignment: p. 52 #1 ac, 2 ac, 3 acegi, 4 ace, 5 a, 6 a, 8 ac, 9 ac, 10 ac, 11, 13 The Ch. 1 Number Systems Test will be this week either Thursday or Friday. Today in class we finished off 1.5 Exponent Laws by looking at how to evaluate powers whose exponent is a fraction. We learned that powers and roots can be interchanged.
Assignment: p. 42 #(1 - 4) ace, 5 a - j, 6 ace, 7 a - l, 8 aceg, 11 Students were also given an Exponents Laws Worksheet to complete and hand in. Today in class we started 1.5 Exponent Laws. We reviewed the exponent laws from previous years and introduced using negative exponents. On Monday we will continue with this section but look at what to do with exponents that are fractions.
Assignment: p. 42 #(1 - 4) ace, 5 a - j, 6 ace, 7 a - l, 8 aceg, 11 Today in class students worked on a Squares and Square Roots Worksheet. This assignment took the students all class. For anyone who didn't finish in class, the assignment should be completed for homework and handed in tomorrow.
Today in class we went over 1.4 Estimating Roots. We looked at how to find square and cube roots of rational numbers without using a calculator. The main benefit of doing this is to strengthen students' number sense.
